Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training: Honoring Our Roots
India has been a sacred place of spiritual practice for over 5,000 years. It is one of the most ancient cultures in the world, with a vast body of spiritual ideas and teachings on yoga. Today, India is home to more than 6 million yoga practitioners – so it’s no wonder that many people are excited about its newest innovation.
With the growing popularity of yoga in America, it becomes more important to explore and understand the practice from a global rather than a regional perspective. This is exactly why Yoga Alliance was created. The organization, consisting of 45 yoga schools with 12,000 teachers, wants to unite all American-based yoga schools with one not-for-profit organization that will offer improved standards for certification and governance.
What is a Yoga Alliance Teacher Training?
A Yoga Alliance Teacher Training is an intensive, 4-week program that leads to certification as a certified yoga teacher. The training has its roots in the ancient practice of yoga. Its goal is to help you deepen your understanding of yoga philosophy and practice, develop a strong teaching foundation, and create safe and dynamic classes.
A two weeks training minimum commitment is required to apply for certification as a Yoga Alliance teacher. If you wish to enrol in a longer training program, it will be based on your individual goals and experience and many other factors. After completing the training, you must pass an oral and written examination. The Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training program is tuition-free for participants who reside in India, but participation is not fee-free for all trainees.
