Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training: Honoring Our Roots

India has been a sacred place of spiritual practice for over 5,000 years. It is one of the most ancient cultures in the world, with a vast body of spiritual ideas and teachings on yoga. Today, India is home to more than 6 million yoga practitioners – so it’s no wonder that many people are excited about its newest innovation.

With the growing popularity of yoga in America, it becomes more important to explore and understand the practice from a global rather than a regional perspective. This is exactly why Yoga Alliance was created. The organization, consisting of 45 yoga schools with 12,000 teachers, wants to unite all American-based yoga schools with one not-for-profit organization that will offer improved standards for certification and governance.

What is a Yoga Alliance Teacher Training?

A Yoga Alliance Teacher Training is an intensive, 4-week program that leads to certification as a certified yoga teacher. The training has its roots in the ancient practice of yoga. Its goal is to help you deepen your understanding of yoga philosophy and practice, develop a strong teaching foundation, and create safe and dynamic classes.

A two weeks training minimum commitment is required to apply for certification as a Yoga Alliance teacher. If you wish to enrol in a longer training program, it will be based on your individual goals and experience and many other factors. After completing the training, you must pass an oral and written examination. The Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training program is tuition-free for participants who reside in India, but participation is not fee-free for all trainees.

Why India for a yoga teacher training course?

The answer is simple. India is known as the land of yoga. The roots of this ancient discipline date back to 8,000 BC. The first written mention of yoga comes from the Hindu scriptures, the Vedas.

India is also home to a vast and diverse culture that has contributed greatly to world culture. This rich heritage makes India an ideal location for a yoga teacher training course.

The country is blessed with natural beauty and stunning landscapes that are perfect for exploring on foot or by bicycle. With so much to see and do, students will be able to gain a great deal of insight into Indian culture and its yogic roots during their teacher training in India.

Why Yogaadi for Yoga Alliance certified Teacher Training Course

Yoga Alliance is excited to offer a Yogaadi teacher training program for yoga teachers in India. The program will be offered in three phases, starting in August 2022. Yogaadi is a Sanskrit word that means “to unite.” In the context of this program, it refers to the idea of uniting yoga and meditation practices into one hour. This 100 Hour Yoga Teacher teaching format aims to provide students with a complete understanding of both disciplines. The first phase of the program will be offered in August 2022. It will consist of 2 weeks of instruction, and participants will learn how to teach hour-long classes. The program’s second phase, 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course, will be offered in August 2022. It will consist of 4 weeks of instruction, and participants will learn how to integrate yoga and meditation into their daily lives. The program’s third phase, 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, will be offered in August 2022. It will consist of 5 weeks of instruction, and participants will learn how to create their personalized schedule for hour-long classes. All three phases of the program are open to people currently working as yoga teachers or aspiring to become yoga teachers. Participants do not have to have any previous experience teaching yoga or meditation classes.

What to Bring

If you’re considering enrolling in the upcoming Yoga Alliance Teacher Training, here are a few items you’ll want to pack: mat, blocks, strap, and an open mind.

The Yoga Alliance Teacher Training provides an immersive experience in the ancient practice of yoga. The program is designed to help you deepen your understanding of yoga philosophy and practice while deepening your connection to your body and breath. To create this unique learning environment, the Yoga Alliance asks that participants bring their mats and Blocks.

Blocks provide pose stability and can also be used as props for other activities such as meditation or breathing exercises. A strap can help hold poses or distribute pressure evenly throughout the body during certain postures. Finally, an open mind is essential for any teacher training program – if you’re looking to deepen your practice and learn from others, this is the perfect environment!
